The Rise of the Penny Slots Game- Part 1

One of the biggest trends in the market of gaming today is the Penny Slot Machine! Studies have shown that despite an overall decline in gambling at slot machines during the recession, penny slots have not suffered. In fact, many people have switched over to penny slots. Not only do they fit into the budgets of most people, but they also offer some exciting games that are fun and lucrative.

The novelty of the “penny” is also a draw to the games. Think about it—what can you buy for a penny these days? Not much! But you can saunter up to a slot machine and take a chance at winning. That’s great news to people with a tight bankroll or to those who want to play as long as possible. Some people today focus on the length of play, rather than the payout or big wagers. Penny slots games are good games because they won’t stretch anyone’s bankroll and for slots lovers, they are a great advantage.

The slots of today are multi-line machines that can accept many coins per line. Over the last few years slot machine manufacturers have been adding more lines to their games. They have also increased the number of coins that can be played on each line. This innovation was due primarily to the introduction of the “coinless machines” with bill acceptor and ticket out payoffs. This did away with the need to have a hopper filled with actual coins. A few years ago we saw a resurgence of the nickel slots as the number of coins that could be played on the machines increased. The new games could take so many coins per spin that it became cost prohibitive for many players to play maximum coins at the quarter level so the denomination of coins dropped down to a nickel. As the popularity of the nickel games increased the slot makers wanted to make games that would take even more coins per spin. Some of these games again became too expensive for the average player to play maximum coins even at the nickel level. The next logical step was to drop the denomination down again to the penny.

    Part two coming next.
