Take Advantage of Casino Comps- Part 2
To take advantage of your comps, you have to get on the board for the specials. To earn comps you first have to “rate” with the casino. Sign up for the player’s club program and see what the terms are. You should have information like how much you have to pay in, how much you have to wager, if there is a time limit on when you can start collecting bonus points, etc. The terms should be straightforward but if they aren’t don’t hesitate to ask the concierge to explain anything you may not understand. To be sure you are earning as much as you want, you need to know exactly what to do.
When you play table games you have to ask the pit boss to rate your play. Always use your player’s card when playing. The second thing you must do when looking for a comp is request it. Casinos managers or the wait staff are not told to approach players with specials—rather the player has to approach them. The good thing to remember at a casino is: ask and you shall receive. If your play qualifies for the comp you are looking for you will get it. If not you are told you don’t have enough play you can then ask what you still need to do to earn the comp you are seeking.
So who do you ask? This comes down to what games you are playing. If you are at a table game, the pit boss is the one to look to for any issues and questions. He or she can give you the information on what to do to earn the comp you want. On the other hand, if you are playing on the machines, you can talk to the casino host. You can flag down a slot attendant and tell them you’d like to talk to the casino host and request them to page one for you. Again—he or she should be able to give you any information you need. If you are looking for a larger comp, like a room, then you need to speak to the casino host before you check out. If you don’t have a casino host, you can call the hotel operator and ask to be connected with one.
