    Understanding Slots Gaming- Part 1

    Monday, March 14th, 2011

If you are new to slots gaming then you are going to need to know the basic terms that are involved with the game. It is a fact that slots gaming is one of the easiest things to get in to when you go to the casino. Unlike games of strategy like poker or blackjack, slots is a game that has no strategy at all. You won’t have to worry about building a skill level or worrying about opponents—slots are games that anyone can play by themselves, for as long as they want. The games are completely based on luck too. Every game is based on the randomness that just happens to come to you. How well you do is completely based on how much luck you have working with you during that session. Here are some terms you need to know when you wager at the slots:

RNG, Random Number Generator. This is what runs the entire slots game. Deep within the game there is a mechanism that dictates based on a complex algorithm. This is what sends random numbers to the machine and lets it stop on the corresponding reel symbols. Everything within a game is based on these numbers and that is why the games are completely independent of a strategy. There is nothing you can do in the middle of a game to make it turn out differently. Some games have strategies, but slots are not those games. They come based on luck and nothing else.
    • Pay Table. Every slots game has a pay table to it. You want to at least read the table and find out what your odds of winning are. Though two tames may look alike, this is no indication that they really are. They both could have seriously different odds and wager requirements as you play. You want to understand exactly how much it will cost to wager at the game before you start playing so you know what kind of investment you need to make to play. That way you can make sure the wager requirements fit into your bankroll limits, so you don’t have to go over your budget.

More Myths with Slots Gaming- Part 1

    Friday, January 7th, 2011

In the world of slots gaming there are some myths to sort through. Namely if you are a new slots gamer then you may be concerned about finding out the truth when it comes to spinning the rules and facing off against the one-armed bandit. The truth is that the game is totally a game of luck so you can’t do anything to change the outcome. You can however sort through the misunderstandings resulting from slots gaming and have a great time wagering. If you get lucky, you can also walk away with some great payouts of the game. Here are some of the main myths about slots and what the truth behind them is. First of all, some people believe that if a game pays out, it isn’t going to pay out for a “long time” afterward. The truth is that the game is run on a random pace. You can’t predict when a game is or isn’t going to payout. The game is solely run by the random number generator and that is all that you can count on in the game. You can’t predict anything about it. If a game just paid out it could payout again. The machine doesn’t “know” it paid out. All it knows is that if the right random numbers are pulled again, then it is going to pay out again.

Secondly, some people believe that they have a better chance of winning if they are pulling the handle or pushing the button. This also is moot. The machine has no differentiation between pulling the actual reel or pushing the button. All it knows is that the mechanism needs to pick numbers, spin the reels, stop at the designated reels and then either pay out, or not. The same mechanism works whether you are wagering on either one. All the machine knows is to start the process. This is one of the best things about the machines though because they are totally dependent on luck for a win. You won’t have to worry about doing anything difficult or learning more about the game to win it. This isn’t a game that you have to worry about studying up for. You just jump right in and play.

Do Online Slots Parlor Ban Lucky Players?

    Friday, December 31st, 2010

There is a myth in the world of gaming that says that casinos ban players who tend to win more slots payouts. We have all heard the stories of players who sit at a machine and manage to win the jackpot. Then the next day they come back and win at another game. Or, they win at one game and a few hours later win at it again! Either way it is headline news and the rumor is that casinos watch out for that kind of thing. They then ban the players because they don’t want to lose money to one particularly lucky player. The truth is that this doesn’t happen. First of all, a casino knows how the slots work. They are completely random machines. If one player hits the jackpot once and then hits soon after, the reality is that he or she is just experiencing a good run of luck, nothing more. Most likely the player is going to have their day in the sun, but then lose their lucky streak and fall back into the normal winning pattern they are used to. There is nothing he or she can do to extend their luck, so they won’t even try.

Second of all, a good casino knows that the publicity they get for a player who wins two or more jackpots in succession is priceless. All they have to do is announce two great wins over a short span of time and the players most likely are going to enough promotions for them. The casino won’t have to pay for that kind of publicity—rather they can just take advantage of fate and enjoy. The world of casino gambling is highly competitive and that means that casinos love free publicity. More than a few casinos have benefitted from players winning huge amounts and creating a buzz about the facility. That works for online slots parlors too. They love to post that they paid out huge amounts to their players. It is one of the best things about gaming. If you are playing and win, don’t worry. The casino most likely is going to welcome you with open arms the next time you come in. they want your business and one or two good wins aren’t going to seriously cut back on their overwhelming revenue stream.

    Kansas Debating Slots Gaming Rules

    Friday, December 31st, 2010

Many state legislators are looking for slots gaming to pull them out of the post-recessionary slump. They believe that slots are what it will take to turn things around. Even states that have long-established casinos are toying with increasing slots as a way to generate more income. Kansas is now joining in on the debate. The state legislators are debating whether or not this should happen in 2011. The lines are drawn up in the normal way. On one side, pro- gambling activists believe that the money slots would bring in is going to be well worth the efforts to create workable laws. Slots are the one thing that can bring in millions of dollars every month and help to turn things around. The state remember is under a heavy deficit right now and bringing gaming in would help to shore up state coffers. On the other side though is the anti-gambling side. They believe that though gambling could bring in money, it also brings in an inevitable repercussion of crime, corruption and addiction. If the state brings in millions, it could end up spending a huge part of that additional revenue on fixing problems gambling created in the first place. For example, if the state brings in an additional $5 million a month in revenue from a slots parlor, that could bring with it more thieves looking to rob the casino and patrons. This could necessitate the use of a heavier police force to work with. The cost of employing more officers, or even creating task forces specifically focused on gambling, could cost the state millions every month too. The benefits would quickly be worked out with the cost involved.

The debates are still raging, but Kansas officials are trying to see if they can expand gambling and slots play to the southeastern area of the state. State Representative Bob Grant is hoping to convene next year and bring up the issue once again. He believes that it could be the difference between problems with finances, and finding the budget needed to continue with public programs and expansion. State residents will have to wait until 2011 to see what happens with the issue, but they too are forming their own opinions on what should happen.

AL Having Problems with Slots Gaming

    Tuesday, December 28th, 2010

The changing world of gambling is affecting many different areas in the US. Now it is the state of Alabama that is having problems. The tribal leaders within the state are pushing for separatism. They want to function as a separate entity with its own rules that are far beyond what the rules of the state are. This is just another example of how slot machines and gambling in general are affecting the outcomes of the legal world. They are pushing for changes and serious legislation. Legislators are playing with various rules but are a far way off of building laws that effectively manage the world. In the world of gambling, there are billions of dollars to be had. It is estimated that the gambling business is worth $3 billion right now and that number should reach $7 billion by the year 2014. That means that legislators everywhere are scrambling to get a piece of that pie. Even the recession couldn’t keep gambling down. Sure if affected how people were wagering, but the minute things started turning around, people began changing their gambling methods. They once again reentered the market to take advantage of the gaming fun out there and the potential to win money.

Alabama is just another state that has some serious decisions to make. Many legislators are concerned that the tribal leaders are moving to a separatist philosophy that won’t work. Some are saying their decision to separate is to rid themselves from paying taxes to the state. They want to make sure that their slots revenue is growing, but they don’t have to contribute a large portion of that to the state, which is common with all states. Normally a tribe is allowed to operate gaming centers on US soil in exchange for contributing a huge portion of their revenue to the state. It is an agreement that has worked with other states and Alabama legislators are pushing for the same laws to work here. Casino leaders are not making it easy though. They are hoping to separate and set their own laws and rules regarding gaming money. Due to the huge amount of money available though, most likely legislators are not going to let the issue go the way tribal leaders want.

Understanding The Slots Games- Part 1

    Saturday, November 27th, 2010

If you are looking for a way to get a jump on winning on a slot machine, then you have to understand the RNG, or random number generator. This is a mechanism inside that directs everything that happens on the machine. If you get a win, it is because of the RNG. If you get a loss, it is also because of the RNG. The mechanism dictates random numbers to the machine and the corresponding reels tell it what symbols show up when the reels stop spinning. The spins are not real—in today’s technologically driven market it only seems like the reels spin. Older machines had actual reels that spun; today’s machines use programming and there are no physical reels to be seen. The RNG randomly picks number anywhere from zero to normally a billion or more. Every number then is divided by a complex algorithm programmed into the machine. Whatever the remainder is after that algorithm is completed, is where the numbers pick reels.

It isn’t as complicated as it sounds and you, as the gamer, won’t have to worry about any algorithms or numbers to remember. The machine is programmed to do all the work for you. All you have to do is to pull the virtual reel, or in the case of new machines push the button to spin the reels, and the symbols automatically line up. This is where you get to see if you win something or if you don’t. It is a good way to play with no thought on strategy or plan. Other games employ hefty strategies to win. Slots are different. There is no external element to influence them. With a slots game it is all about the RNG and the inner mechanisms. Once those are decided by the machine, all you have to do is sit back and see what happens. It is a luck based game that has brought hours of fun to millions of gamers over the past century. If you are looking for a good game of luck, then test out the slots. One of the biggest advantages right now is the huge variety of games you can pick from.

Smoking and Gambling Don’t Always Mix

    Sunday, October 31st, 2010

There is a new question in the market regarding gambling and smoking. It’s no secret that a lot of casinos in former years were smoky. Patrons liked to come in, wager and smoke at the same time. If you scanned a casino that is exactly what you would see. There are some groups in an uproar though. They believe that the second-hand smoke issue is valid here and want a place where they can wager without breathing in smoke from other players. Smoke is still considered to be a bad habit in today’s society– and a dangerous one.

Casino operators at first made the argument that most people like to smoke and gamble, but that isn’t as valid an argument anymore. Studies are showing that fewer and fewer gamblers are smoking. In fact, a recent survey showed that 80% of gamers want to wager in a smoke-free atmosphere. In the world of gambling when a survey shows such a big market that wants a rule to be one way, operators stand up and take notice. They start to watch out for that group because they want to maximize their own wins. If they can please eight out of ten people, they can keep those people in the casino wagering and keep making money off of them. Yes- they may end up losing two customers for those ten, but that is still maximizing the market.
More and more land based casinos are making decisions regarding smoking. They are opting to offer smoke-free gambling and it is a positive move. New studies have shown that gamers without smoke filled rooms, wager longer—in particular those who aren’t smokers themselves. It is a great way to keep gamers happy. You can expect more casinos to enter the debate. So far it has only reached the Las Vegas area with a formal decision being made, but more states should be making their own rulings on the issue. Since gambling is such a high priority right now, that is bringing all issues gaming related to the forefront. Legislators will be fighting this issue out and you can expect some changes to come to the various US markets over the next few years.

Capado Gaming Faces Fines for Not Following Rules

    Sunday, October 31st, 2010

One of the hot topics in the world of gambling today is making companies follow specific rules for smooth sailing. There are problems with it though because of the varying rules. Having no one uniform rule regarding gambling is creating a lot of problems with economies. Companies are having problems following all the rules and not accustomed to the strict guidelines that have been enacted. In Las Vegas there are still some companies that are struggling. One is Capado Gaming. The company provides games to casinos. In the market today, casinos expect to rotate out games consistently. The gaming public is fickle and keeps up a demand for new games and promotions. Casinos that offer the games, are the ones that are making the biggest name for themselves in the market.

Unfortunately Capado Gaming had some recent issues with the law. The company failed to provide the state with the proper serial numbers to slots games they provided to Incline Village in Lake Tahoe. This failure pushed for legal action against the company. The Las Vegas Gaming Control Board ended up fining the company a total of $2,500. Though they rectified the problem by scrambling to catch up on the proper paperwork, the gaming board still wanted to send a clear message: companies that don’t follow the rules, will have to pay. Finding a uniform rule for the gaming world is going to be a task in the market. Gambling in the US is growing so quickly that legalization and regulation are priority on the desks of hundreds of law makers. They want to change the rules but make sure that they are also followed. Finding a general gambling law that is uniformly accepted and workable is going to be a huge task for state legislators. Most likely they will put their efforts into the activity though because of the sheer amount of funds available if they are successful with legalization. It will take time though and more companies are inevitably going to slip up with regulations. This will open the door to more and more fining, but it also will help them to learn what the rules are and how to adhere to them as they manage their gaming related companies.

How to Play Progressives- Part 1

    Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

In the world of slots gaming there are the progressive games. Anyone who has been gaming for a while most likely has been attracted by the progressive slots due to their hefty payouts. It is also exciting to watch them grow quickly. Normally you will see a ticker right on the screen that shows you the numbers getting bigger and bigger with each passing second. Who wouldn’t be excited to get in on that? A lot of progressives quickly reach into the hundreds-of-thousands of dollars, if not the millions. It isn’t unusual to see casinos wooing customers with a huge progressive payout on a popular game either. Overall progressives are some of the most lucrative games on the market today.

If you are going to get in on progressives, remember that there are different styles. The way a progressive slots game works is that it is a game that is networked together with other games of the same title, genre or theme. When a player wagers, part of that wager goes directly to the jackpot. For example, if you are wagering $10, the casino could set it up such that the first $1 of your wager goes to the jackpot. If ten people are playing on that network of games, that means every time they spin the jackpot increases by another $10. In general there are three different kinds of progressive games. The first is called the “stand alone” progressive. These are the games that take their jackpots from only the wagers they collect. These tend to be smaller because of that but still they can offer a lot of fun to any gamer. There also is the “in-house” slots game. These are the ones that are networked throughout a casino. Operators may link five games on the slots floor together but it is just one casino that is handling them. These are mid-level payout games. You can find some advantages here because the payouts are bigger than the stand-alone, but they aren’t the million-dollar games you hear about. Those are the “area-wide” progressives. These are a network of games connected over a large geographic area. That could be statewide or even bigger. You can see with these easily thousands of people participate in them and that means that the jackpots soar.

How to Play in a Slots Tournament

    Thursday, September 16th, 2010

If you are bored with slots games, then why no try the tournaments? Some slots gamers are worried because they don’t know how tournaments work, but they are simple. If you can jump right into a slots game, then you probably can jump right into a slots tournament. The tournaments work just like poker tournaments. You are going to have some buy-in. remember to calculate this into your budget. You want to make sure you don’t go overboard with tournaments, the same way you would watch your bankroll if you are gaming for a few hours. The good news is that there are tournaments built for every bankroll so if you are limited, you can find lower-dollar requiring tournaments, but if you have a bigger bankroll to test out then you are going to find tournaments that can handle that. Normally the bigger the wager requirement to get in on the game means a bigger payout, but be sure to check and make sure that you have the amounts you want as a gamer.

Once you pick the tournament you want to participate in, you are going to start off with a certain number of chips. These are specific to the event, so be sure to read the rules so you know what is going to happen. As you keep playing you hopefully will be winning more chips. Once you lose all your chips, you are out of the event. If you keep winning, then you keep moving up on the leaderboard. As you move up, you move closer to winning the top prize payout. There aren’t any real instructions though other than how much of a credit you are going to start with. Beyond that you just get in and play. The best thing about these tournaments is that they have to have a winner so if you are feeling lucky, then take part in them. You also have a greater chance of a win. Think of this—when you play slots alone, you may pay $10 to spin the reels for an hour. If you put that $10 to the tournament, you might start with 1000 credits. That means you have a way bigger chance of winning! Don’t pass up good tournaments. Remember that they can be some of the most exciting ways to spend your time when you are playing slots online.
