Slots Continue to Grow in Popularity- Part 1

    Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

There are a lot of games doing well in the slots market, but some are performing better than others. If you look at how slots have developed in just the past few years, you can easily see how much time and effort gaming companies have put into the small games. Slots have been around for years now—since the late 1800s as a matter of a fact. Thanks to one man named Charles Fey the games were created and since that time one operator after another hasn’t been able to wait to get their hands on the game. It was an ingenious idea…the customer spins reels and if they make matches, they win something. The possibility of a good win is there, but so is the possibility of a loss. It didn’t bother gamers though. They quickly embraced the game and “taking a chance” became a staple in their overall gaming lifestyles. In fact, not knowing what the results were going to be became a huge impetus for continuously playing the game. Sure some people want a “sure thing” but others understand that part of the fun is not knowing whether or not you are going to get a payout, or how big it will eventually be. This is what the games are built on and since the 1800s millions of gamblers have sat at the games to take their own chances of winning. They know that the payouts are great fun to get but even if they don’t get them, they still have a great gaming session to talk about.

You are going to find plenty of games right now that offer you a huge amount of gaming fun and you can thank developers for that one. They are fully aware of how popular the games are right now so they are putting a lot of efforts into building games with that much more to offer. If you go to any good casino today you are going to see how much they are developing their slots parlors as you keep visiting. You can find some of the best games in the market right now, but developers aren’t done. You are going to see plenty of other additions to the market including mobile gaming.

Sudbury Downs Has Great First Quarter

    Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

If you had a question on whether or not slots are still highly popular, all you need to do is look to the gambling numbers that are coming in. The City of Greater Sudbury recently announced their first-quarter revenue thanks to slots game at Sudbury Downs. Sudbury Downs of course is a racetrack that incorporated slots gaming in. It was not after quite a bit of debates though because not all legislators were sold that slots were the solution. Now, they are realizing that slots were the reason why Sudbury Downs was able to rally and keep on brining in revenue. It is no secret that racing has suffered in the past few years. People cut back on gambling altogether due to the difficult financial times they were having, but it seemed that they almost completely eliminated racetrack betting from their monthly budgets. Racetracks all over the world have had problems with this and are trying to create bigger and better purses to bring people in. In order to do this though, they have to have customers. That is the problem. The solution that most racetrack owners have at least studied is to allow slots gaming into their markets. Slots have over the years proven to be a staple for gamblers. The games are flexible enough in theme and wager that millions of gamers can easily find at least a few games they can take advantage of. This isn’t always the case with games like poker or blackjack where there is a definite minimum wager amount that isn’t always affordable for every gambler.

The Sudbury Downs operators though are convinced that they are having a great year in 2011. Their first-quarter revenue is looking good and their week-long revenue was just over $580,000. That is a huge amount of money for just one week and operators are hoping that it is a sign of how the money will keep on coming in thanks to the games. If you love to wager, then you are going to find that there are going to be more options than ever built into the market. Casino operators and racetrack owners are well aware of how much fun slots gaming can be and more than willing to take advantage of it.

St. Louis Slots Numbers Show Decline- Part 2

    Thursday, April 14th, 2011

St. Louis officials were hoping that slots would be their saving grace because that is what they have done for so many other economies and markets. They are performing well, but the area has seen a bit of a setback though due to lower numbers. St. Louis gambling companies are still suffering the lack of funds that consumers have and it is evident in their numbers as of late. Though slots games are some of the most popular games in the market, they are not performing as well for the casinos in the area. Casinos in St. Louis reported that they experienced a 7% dip in slot machine revenue since the same time last year. This may seem like a small amount, but right now the market cannot stomach any type of decline. Casino companies are hoping that they can create enough specials and promotions to entice gamblers back into their gaming floors. For now though, they are left to manage with declining numbers and hope for the best. That is exactly what casino companies and legislators in the state are going to do. They plan on building bigger and better promotions to help spur on business. The machines themselves are not the problem and they realize this. Machines have long been a huge draw for the markets involved and developers are building new ones all the time with added functionalities. Casino operators are sure that they can continue to count on software companies to provide better gaming regularly.

The issue is coming down to the consumer. They are still not wagering as regularly as they did pre-recession and this is posing the problem for revenue building. Legislators would love to see people return to the casinos in the same numbers they used to. People are starting to venture back to the games, but in smaller numbers. While a gambler used to spend a bankroll of $500 at a casino and play a wide range of games, now the pattern is to come with a bankroll of $250 and stick to the small- wager games the entire time. Casino companies and legislator may have to just deal with it for now and hope for change in the future to come quickly.

St. Louis Slots Numbers Show Decline- Part 1

    Thursday, April 14th, 2011

Gaming revenues in St. Louis Missouri are taking slight declines right now. The market is a sketchy one right now because of all the changes happening. We are still working with a post- recessionary market and that is creating a lot of problems for the business world. Businesses all over are having issues with revival because of how people are spending right now… or not spending. One of the repercussions of the recession was that people had to use their savings and nest eggs to make it through. Thanks to millions of Americans being in the unemployment lines, they had to rely on savings to make it through the recession. Many had to tap out their funds and come up with creative ways to make all of their payments. Obviously one of the biggest issues was that without the funds to cover bills, the consumer had little to no discretionary funds to support their local casinos. This put everyone in a strain and it is first now that they are turning things around and coming back into the right market. They are returning to the market slowly though. The issue is that people aren’t yet ready to jump right back in and wager at the levels they were pre- recession. This could take some time yet to reach those levels and casino companies have to just wait it out to see what the future holds in terms of activity.

If any gambling game can rally though it is most likely going to be the slots. The games are so universal that they are taking on the role of number one gambling game in the world relatively easily. It was slowly and under the radar that the games have risen to power and most likely they are not going to stop their rise any time soon. Slots gaming easily bring in about sixty- percent of what the average land- based casino brings in. Operators are aware of this and continue to develop the games in an effort to push them to maximum capacity, and in turn increase their own revenues.

Presque Isle Downs and Casino Revenues Up

    Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

The Presque Isle Downs and Casino is showing well and operators are happy about their slots gambling. The casino of course has made a great name for itself in the northeast. There is definitely a missing link to the market in that area of the US. In former times it was Atlantic City that was ruling the area in terms of gambling dollars. If you wanted to have premiere gambling, though there were other options in neighboring states, you still immediately headed over to Atlantic City for your gambling needs. It was not without a lot of challengers in the area and most competition came from Las Vegas, which was half-the-country away. For the most part Atlantic City had a corner on the market in the northeast, but that all started to change once the recession happened. The recession seemed to be a huge problem for Atlantic City. Yes, it did affect the entire world but for the most part other areas are well on their way to revival. Atlantic City gambling companies cannot say the same. The city has been struggling to regain even a small amount of success and it hasn’t been easy for the casinos to remain open. Most have gone through layoffs and other serious cutbacks to make sure that they are able to sustain the long- term problems of the post-recessionary economy. Still- no one knows for sure what is going to happen with the Atlantic City market and whether or not it will turn around again to be the hub of gambling for the northeastern part of the US.

In the mean time, there are plenty of contenders for the title. Neighboring states to New Jersey are all coming up with their own slot gaming plans and pushing their product. Presque Isle Downs and Casino is just one location that is making a great showing. It offers over 2,000 slots games and 48 different tables to wager at. This past week the casino reported that it brought in about $43- million and that is a huge number for any casino to make- especially a casino that is hoping to really make a big showing in its market.

PA Numbers are in and Slots are Up

    Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

There are still some states that have had problems with slots gambling. The common belief is that slots are a cure-all for the markets. The games traditionally have performed well and brought in millions of dollars to the industries involved. Legislators cannot argue with the numbers and Las Vegas casinos have done a lot to develop the games and their reputations over time. Though it is difficult to gauge the future, past performance is an indicator of what is going to happen. In Pennsylvania there have been hefty debates over the games and whether or not they are viable in the state to bring in the dollars needed. Of course the state’s legislators opted to take the chance at the games and see if they would work. There was some anti- gambling talk though that supported the idea that the games could bring in more trouble than good. Part of the anti- gaming belief is that gambling companies are opening the door to a myriad of problems for cities and states. For example, they are citing that the acceptance and expansion of gambling could bring rise to more crime and corruption than ever. It could open the door for illegal gaming and thievery…not only for casinos, but for patrons leaving casinos. This hasn’t been proven, but some experts claim that it is a reasonable assumption once gambling is accepted into a market. There is no doubt that the games bring in money, but they could also bring in a wide range of additional issues to deal with.

Now that the numbers are in though, many of those speculating on the power of slots may have to eat their own words. They are realizing that the slots’ performance speaks for itself. The state recently reported that it had a jump of 18% in its overall slot machine income throughout the past month. That is a landmark change from a market that has thus been depressed and having problems reviving since the recession. It also is a sign of how volatile gambling may be. In January the numbers were down and now they are climbing back up. The future is unknown or how well the slots will perform and whether or not they will gain a consistency in performance over time.

Maple Ridge of BC Focuses on Slots Gaming

    Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Maple Ridge of British Columbia recently brought in slots games. Part of the issue was whether or not the games would perform for them but that question has quickly been put to rest. In the world of gambling nothing is outperforming the slots. The games come in such a wide variety of themes, wagers and payouts that anyone can find at least a few games to wager on. Plus the games require no skill at all- they come with a luck base and that means there is nothing you can do to influence the outcomes. If you are lucky, you win; if you aren’t, then you don’t. Even if you don’t win though, you still can have a great time with the games and play to your heart’s content at the casino. Maple Ridge first introduced the games back in October of last year and in the time since have seen the power of the games, although they started off rocky. The general perception was to not focus on the games too much and expect too much from them. Legislator believed they would be a benefit in the long run, but not necessarily immediately. They couldn’t have been more wrong. The games almost immediately did take off for the market and started bringing in the big dollars British Columbian legislators were hoping for. Within the first quarter of operations the games generated about $125,000 in revenue and that number has grown considerably since last year.

Maple Ridge is like other locations around the world and looking to slots gaming to help their finances. The market today is still depressed and having problems generating the money it needs to come up with huge budget items. Slots’ gaming is proving itself as a viable option for legislators to shore up their coffers and manage. Though the money is still growing, experts expect slots to continue to perform well for the world. The games appeal to a huge audience and this means that they are going to serve the areas they are set up in well. You can expect more legislators to continue to push for the games now that their power is evident to every location that has used them to build up revenue streams.

MA Slots Not Performing as Well as Hoped

    Saturday, March 26th, 2011

In the state of Maryland there have been many gambling initiatives. The market is open wide in the northeastern part of the US right now. Formerly it was Atlantic City that had the hold on the slots market. In the past if you were traveling to that part of the country there was no better place than Atlantic City to find slots parlor to keep you busy. The games here were highly developed and the city even built itself up to the Las Vegas level of excitement for gamblers. The market took a huge hit post-recession though. Now Atlantic City is a location that is having a problem with change. The market has completely shifted in the area and now there are other contenders for the title of best gaming in the area. This is where other states are stepping up their slots gaming plans. The fact is that slots gambling is a billion dollar business and bringing in a lot of new customers to the market as a result. This means that there are plenty of options with the games right now. If you go to the Northeastern part of the US you are going to find that there are plenty of different options for you to choose from. States neighboring New Jersey are all pushing for their own gambling marks on the world. They know that Atlantic City’s missteps are their opportunities for the future of growth in gaming.

There may be some problems though. Maryland has made the latest move to be a big leader in the world of gaming but there are some problems. Early on the state’s gambling experts projected the numbers. They anticipated a certain level of performance but that is not happening. For example, the Hollywood Casino in Perryville was projected to bring in revenue of just over $210 per day per slot, however that is not what has been happening. Though experts believed that would be coming in, in the end the slots are only bringing just over $180 per game per day. That may seem like a small amount, but considering that there are over 1,500 games on the casino’s floor it adds up. There are many problems in the market right now and only time will tell what happens with the slots and the state of Maryland.

Prisque Isle Downs Posts Huge Revenue on Slots

    Monday, March 14th, 2011

If you had any questions on just how lucrative slots gaming is, then take a look at the numbers that just came in for Presque Isle Downs and Casino this past month. The casino just posted its revenue stream at just over $46-million for their slot machines alone. This is a sign of how lucrative slots gaming is these days. A few short years ago gamblers were unaware of the power of slots gaming. They believed, in fact, that it was the high-roller tables that were bringing in the bulk of their revenues. They thought that these games were too attractive to gamblers to pass up and most would take a shot at the big wins regardless of the investment. They were wrong though. Once the numbers were in, they quickly realized that slots gaming is the most lucrative gambling activity that they offer on the casino floor. In fact, slots gaming brings in over 60% of their revenues on average. Though this was a startling revelation, it is easily deduced. Consider that a high-roller poker table may bring in $3,500 twice a week. That means that it is bringing in $7,000. If you are dazzled by the numbers, you may believe that that is the end of the argument, but wait…think again. consider that while those two poker tournaments are bringing in $7,000, the slots parlor is operating at full steam round the clock. Even if a casino has just thirty slots games that each take in $100 per hour for just six hours a day, they are bringing in a total of $18,000 a day, or $126,000 in a week. The added bonus is that the games work by themselves and there is no dealer salary required to operate them.

If you look at it that way, it is easy to see how slots gaming is taking over so ubiquitously. Casinos are posting great numbers in terms of slots gaming performance. The Pennsylvania Gaming Board just released the Presque Isle Downs and Casino numbers for the last week of February and it brought in over $46-million in slots gaming dollars alone. This is a sign of how lucrative gambling is and how much slots have to do with that popularity. People love to wager on the slots and expect it to continue in the market with expansion in coming months.

    Indian-Owned Casinos Push Slots Gaming

    Friday, February 11th, 2011

For quite a while now Indian-owned casinos have had dwindling revenues. They are hoping that they can compete in the market, but that is becoming more and more risky. Right now the world of slots gambling is expanding quickly. There are new slots parlors coming up and of course online gambling too. These two markets are taking over the industry. There is set number of people in the market though and they are being stretched thin over it. Consider that if you have just two great casinos and 10,000 people in their general geographic area, that means theoretically the each get 5,000 people, give or take. When you start adding to the number of casinos though, you start tampering with the numbers. Say you add Online Casino A and Online Casino B, along with Casino C and Casino D. Now those 10,000 people have six choices for wagering instead of their initial two. That means that those 10,000 people are split six ways. This is making it very hard for slots parlors to sustain themselves in today’s market. They know full well that they have to perform well to remain in business, but how do you do that when the market is so saturated?

Indian- owned casinos have long had problems with their own revenues. They are not working just for profit like other casinos businesses are. Indian- owned casino owners are working for revenue that will directly affect their way of life and build up their infrastructure. Limiting those revenue numbers are severely changing things in the market. They are causing tribal leaders to worry about their future money- generation. One thing that is for sure, if a casino cannot stand up against its competitors, then it is going to fade away. Again though the problem is cyclical—without big dollars tribally-owned casinos can’t bring in customers; without customers, they can’t bring in big dollars. Right now they are fighting for the protection of their markets and hoping that legislators back them up in that fight. The online market may prove too big a foe though. It is a market that has been growing substantially and consistently in the past months. It also is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
