    Video Poker’s Similarity to Slots

    Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Slots lovers may also love video poker due to the similarities of both. If you love slots, then likely you are accustomed to wagering on games that are luck-based. You also are accustomed to working with games that are completely out of your control. This is good because with video poker you are going to have to work with the same structure. There is no strategy you can employ to help you to play the game “better” or get bigger returns while you do. In the game, you have to press a button and then let the reels spin just like you would with a slots game. You get to watch the reels spin and then stop on their spaces thanks to the RNG, or random number generator mechanism inside. Instead of making matches, your goal is to make good poker hands. It helps to be familiar with poker hands but if you aren’t, the machine does all the work for you so that isn’t really an issue. Once you start getting good hands, you then get to pick and choose what cards you want to discard and spin again for. When you are wagering on a video poker game you are actually playing “draw poker” like you would at the casino’s poker tables. If you enjoy poker then video poker is a lot of fun when you are playing and looking for something a little different from the straight slots game to enjoy.

There are a wide range of variations in video poker though so be sure you know what style you are working with when you are wagering. You are going to find “Aces and Eights”, “Deuces Wild”, “Double Joker” and “Sevens Wild” to name a few. The best thing to do is read the chart on every game to see what style of video poker you are working with. They are all fun, but knowing a little bit about what to expect is always helpful when you are wagering on a game. You want to make sure you know a little bit about the game, but then realize that it works just like a slots game. You have to work with luck and you either are going to have it, or you won’t. Just relax with the games and have fun. You could find that they are your next favorite games at the casino.

    Random Payout and Progressive Slots

    Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

If you go to a good slots parlor then you are going to see just how much fun you can have there. No matter what your personal preference in terms of gambling is, you are going to find it when you go to a good parlor. One of the most fun games you are going to find when you go though are the progressive jackpot slots and the random payout slots. Both are taking over because of all they have to offer in terms of returns to the gambler. First of all, there are the progressives. Progressive games are those that come with the huge payouts. A portion of every wager made on the network of slots goes to that payout and that is what drives it upwards so quickly. For example, let’s say it costs $20 to spin the reels, the casino could set it up such that $4 of that amount goes directly to the progressive pot. That means every time someone spins the reels, the progressive increases by $4…not multiply that by tens, hundreds or even thousands of people working on the specific gaming network. You can see how the games are going to grow in payout so much quicker. This is a sure-fire way to be privy to the big payouts you hear about. In today’s market you are going to find plenty of games that offer payouts in the hundreds-of-thousands and even millions. All you have to do is a quick search of the market and you are going to find plenty of options.

On the other hand there are the random payout slots. These are a newer invention in the world of gambling and they come with a good chance of a huge win. These are slots that casino operators are putting up to help you win more. It is a smaller network of games on a casino floor put together and as people wager, a part of their wagers goes to that jackpot. Normally you can see the jackpot rise and it will have some fun animation to it as you are wagering. When the machine reaches a random limit it pays out to whoever is on the network at that time and playing the game. If you are looking for great payouts, then test out either one of the above games. You likely are going to have a lot of fun with them, but you also can end up walking away with a great win.

Virginia Officials Fight Illegal Slots Gaming

    Saturday, March 26th, 2011

Many state legislators love the idea of slots games being brought in. They understand that slots can bring in millions of dollars every month. They also know that a good casino can create jobs for the market. In today’s post- recessionary market that is a huge advantage. There are still long lines at the unemployment office and finding new jobs is a great way to come up with quicker revival. There are plenty of states that would love to use slots as a means of generating revenue. On the other hand though, there are still some states that are holding out. Virginia is one of those states. The state’s legislators have computer-based sweepstakes games that are highly similar to slots games. Originally it was North Carolina that had to deal with the issue and forced the game out via proper legislation. Though they dodged the bullet, now Virginia is up. The legislators within the state are trying to do the same thing and veto the games. The games are very similar to slots games but the debate is whether or not the games fall under the same rules as slots games. The debate is still in the works though and there is no definitive answer to the games right now.

In the state of Virginia there are some issues of closings. Some locations in the state are using the computer- based games already. State officials are moving in on the games and the locations to shut them down immediately. So far there have been two large locations that have been shut down by police. Until some decision is made though, the changes are not going to be made in making the games legal. The argument is that the games are just too similar to games that were already banned, so there is no chance that they will be allowed. Right now there is a hefty debate though still going on. Legislators are pretty staunch though. They believe that the games should remain in the illegal category and police should continue to come down on establishments that are offering them. It may take time to move throughout the state though to get rid of all of the games, but that is the intent of officials until something changes.

How the RNG of a Slot Machine Works

    Friday, December 31st, 2010

You may have heard a lot about random number generators, or RNGs, but aren’t quite sure how they are or what they do. The RNG of a game is included in a wide variety of computer games. Any game that has to generate a sequence is going to use one to dictate what it gives the players. There is an algorithm calculated by machines that use RNGs and that tells it what symbols correspond to the numbers generated. It’s really simple to understand the concept, but the algorithm would not be as simple to comprehend. An algorithm is merely a calculation. For example, if you go to a website that predicts stock market changes in value, it uses huge algorithms to come up with the data based on past performance, the market, the GDP, etc. There are going to be a huge range of things it takes into account before it generates its own predictions. A RNG for a computer slots game is relatively the same. The game uses this algorithm to calculate the number, and that number tells the machine what symbol should fall on what payline. If you make matches, then the machine recognizes them and knows to pay you or give you the next bonus you are in line for winning. Understanding the algorithms are important because this is how you are going to understand the point of slots.

So what is the point of a slots game? To have fun and rely completely on luck. There isn’t anything you can do to influence the RNG so don’t even try. Just take the games for what they are—completely luck based games. Slots games are meant to be fun. They are meant to come in a wide variety so you don’t get bored, and that is exactly what they do. Thanks to developers, the games are more and more complex in style, theme and wager requirement, but the bottom line is that they are also still random. For them to be “slots” that is never going to change. Don’t worry about slot machines. Just have fun, start spinning the reels and hope for the best. There is a reason why these are some of the most popular games on a casino floor and have been for decades.

    RNGs Rule Slots Games

    Monday, November 15th, 2010

If you read up about slots games most likely you are going to hear about the RNG, or random number generator, but what is it? The RNG is a mechanism in the slot game that dictates how the reels spin and where they fall. The mechanism is what generates a specific sequence of numbers that then coordinate with the reel symbols. This is what the symbols, and in turn your wins or loses, are totally dependent on. Don’t worry about affecting the RNG because you can’t. No matter what you do, it operates independently. If you go online you can find a host of tools to use when picking gambling numbers. For example, you can find websites that truly pull random numbers for you. They are normally used for pick-four or pick-five lottery games. They are the easiest way to remain totally random and come up with the right combinations you wager. The biggest asset in wagering is that you can find a long list of aids if you look. Not that those aids are going to overcome and help you to win- that is pointless. They can help you to generate truly random numbers when playing lotteries.

When it comes to slots though, there are few things you can do to increase your chances of winning. The RNG is “god” in the world of slots. It decides what happens and what symbols come up on the paylines. If you find yourself losing, there is nothing you can do but move on. Online games are highly popular right now and that means that you can continue to wager on them but have to know how they work. Understanding what you can affect and what you cannot, can substantially save your bankrolls. You don’t want to go over limits and have a bad gaming session because of how you are losing. The RNG dictates everything in the world of gambling, but there is nothing you can do to sway it into your favor. This is why you need to be wise with your bankroll limits. Be wise and make good decisions, but then just have fun with slots.

    Why People Play Slots Games

    Friday, October 1st, 2010

How do you tell if a slots game is the right one for you? Well that depends. First of all you have to decide whether or not you want to wager for fun or to win. If you want to wager to win, then you most likely are going to benefit the most from games that have big bonuses and progressives. The progressive games are the ones that have huge payouts that grow every second you game. The biggest asset to gambling is when you find the perfect solution for your needs. If you want a big progressive, then continue to do searches. You are going to find a huge number of games to enjoy. Progressives are highly coveted in the market and more and more are being promoted. These are the games that are networked together over a geographic area. That means that every time someone on that network wagers, they are going to contribute to the payout. If that network is large, then the payouts rise quickly. The chances of winning aren’t that great but you can still have a lot of gaming fun.

On the other hand, you may be playing games for the fun of it. If you are, then just sit back and pick games that you like. The best thing about casino slots these days are that there are numerous themes to pick. If you like dining or entertainment, you are going to find casino slots that feature those themes. On the other hand if you love Elvis or dogs, then you can find games that feature that. Don’t worry about your preference, you are going to find it out there. The best part about gaming for fun is that you can pick what you want. Decide on your bankroll limit and then find the game you want. Any good casino should have a great selection of games for you to pick from. The specifics that you want are going to be available—just search. Whichever type of game is right for you, remember that slots are games of luck. Because of this you can let go of all desire for a strategy or technique. Just have fun with the games and then test your luck. You just might win during the process.

    The Problem with Slot Games

    Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

In the world of gambling slots are highly popular. They are continuing to steadily grow and develop in the market of gambling. Now that online gambling is expanding so quickly, slots are being taken to a new level of popularity. Not only are gaming companies aware of this growth, but they are relying on it. Though the games are some of the best in the market, there is one problem with them: they are obsolete fast. Let’s say you find a great slots game that has a bonus game within it. It may take you a few chances to get to the bonus game. When you do get to the bonus game, it is going to offer you between two to five choices. You can play the one choice and get one bonus. If you play the others you are going to get other bonuses. The issue is that eventually, you are going to play enough to get every bonus. You are going to know what choices lead to what jackpots and no longer will it be completely a surprise. Eventually, after playing the game for a while you are going to know exactly what the game has to offer. The same goes for iSlots. iSlots are those games that have interactive elements where you make choices. Those choices bring the story in a different direction every time you choose them. The same thing happens though- eventually you have hit every option and the game becomes routine. The slots games are always random though, so knowing the choices doesn’t necessarily mean that you can win more. It just means you are going to know how the game works.

When you do eventually know the game backwards and forwards, and that can open the door to boredom. You are going to naturally want another type of game to play. Operators know this and games the reality is that games that developers spend weeks creating have a short shelf life. Sure they can be very popular at the beginning, but more sophisticated gamers are going to play them, get through the choices and then want to move on to other games.

Why Choose a Progressive Slot Machine?

    Friday, April 16th, 2010

In the world of slot machines there are a lot of options. How many reels do you want to play? What is your wager limit? What theme do you like most?  All of these things work together to bring you the optimum gaming experience and they all vary for players. One thing that is an advantage to a lot of players though is the progressive slot machine. This is a machine that is hooked up to a network of tens, sometimes hundreds, of other machines. Whenever someone wagers on one of them, part of their wager goes to the overall payout. In land-based casinos that connection of machines can be petty vast and that creates an even bigger pot for one lucky winner. In online casinos, there is no limit to how many players can start wagering on a machine and that menas that it too can create a phenominal payout level for any gamer.

When the lucky player hits the right combination on the reels, he or she will walk away with the progressive payout. You can watch the payout amount increase quickly- normally there is some ticker or banner on top of the machine (or screen if you are playing online) that will keep track of how quickly it grows. Let’s face it- operators want more people to participate. The more wagerers, the higher the payout gets. The higher the payout gets, the more wagerers join in. It’s a great way of pushing the jackpot up new levels and most players love participating for the chance to win some life-changing amount on their favorite slot machine.

A lot of gamers want a “strategy” for playing progressive slots. This is a tall order because the machines work on the same random number generator that regular slots do. There isn’t really a strategy to follow because of the randomness of the games. They are not affected by what players do because there isn’t anything TO DO other than spin the reels and hope Lady Luck is on your side. It makes for an interesting game and the progressive payout makes it that much more exciting. Not only can you enjoy a great gaming session, now you can hope for the life-changing payout and watch it grow as you play. Test out a progressive slots game for yourself and see how much fun these games can be for any avid or novice gamer.

    Squashing the Myths of Slots

    Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

When it comes to reading slot machines, there are hundreds of “experts” out there who believe they have the key. Anyone who has been looking into the games for any amount of time inevitably has come in contact with people who claim to have tips and tricks. Most are nonsense and don’t offer any value at all to the player. Remember that if these tips were truly strategies, then why isn’t every slots player walking away a winner? The reason is because most “wisdom” is a myth. No one can predict when a machine is going to pay out or when it is going to take your money. Every machine has a random number generator, or RNG and that is the only thing that dictates how a slot machine’s reels land. Here are some common myths that still run rampant in today’s gambling world.

    • Loosing machines are segregated to one area of the casino. Exactly what sense would this make? The only distinction is that looser machines may be put in different areas, but they aren’t sure fire losing machines.
    • The numbers of symbols on a reel dictate the amount of wins. This isn’t entirely true. What is true is that there are probabilities you can calculate to see how your chances of a winning combination change as you add reels. Of course these are pretty complex, but if you have a free weekend, take a chance and see how the numbers play out.
    • Slots can be remotely tightened or loosened. Slot machines have computer chips that can be changed, but the changes are regulated by third-party. That means that the chances of a casino changing the odds and risking fines and other actions just aren’t that great. Plus, the negative publicity any act like that would bring would definitely bring a casino to its knees. No one in today’s competitive market wants to take that risk and lose consistent paying customers to another casino.
    • Winning machines have something “special” and trained players can spot them. Again—if this were the case, people would win more as they continued playing. A slot machine is run by the RNG and that’s it. The law of randomness is the only thing that influences the reels.
    • If a machine hasn’t paid out in a while, it will soon. Recall the RNG? And how it is the sole influence? Same here. A machine that hasn’t paid out in a while could pay out on the next play, or could hold out for a lot longer. That’s the beauty of working on a totally random system.
    • Hot coins will increase a player’s chance of winning. Anyone who understands how a slot machine operates, will know that a hot coin (meaning hot from a real flame) is not going to warm up the gears and get them to “loosen” up. This myth was likely started by an optimistic and creative gambler who had one too many free drinks sitting at the slot machines.
    • You always have better winning odds on the weekends. Although casinos may change their betting stakes to accommodate certain types of players at certain times of the day, the payouts of slot machines still operate on a random basis as dictated by the RNG.
