Maryland Looking for Another Slots Parlor by Late 2011

    Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Maryland is still on a slot machine high and showing no signs of slowing down. Anyone who has been watching the market knows that they recently approved a slots parlor in Perryville. The parlor was Hollywood Casino and it opened to moderate reviews, but top-dollars this past November. The slots parlor offered over 1,500 slots games to enjoy. One of the novelties of the games are that they are “coinless”. This means that as you wager on them, you have to play games with tickets. The tickets have values to them and you get to cash in those tickets when you are done wagering. This is a great system that eliminates the need to carry money from one location to another. It stops you from having to walk around with quarters that can be bulky and heavy. This is one of the signs of how gaming today is becoming more convenient for the gamer. Casinos want to build better options for gamers because it allows them to keep on wagering at their convenience without breaking their bank accounts. Now that this is a success though, Maryland is taking on a new project of gaming.

This time the state is considering building another slots parlor. This one is an aggressive plan for gaming to start in the coming year. Construction will begin within the next few weeks and likely should be completed by the end of 2011. This is a time when gaming companies are going to know push for as much gaming as they possibly can and bring in the amount of casinos they deem needed to maximize revenues. The recession’s aftermath is still alive with gaming companies. They know that the dollars aren’t as stable as they once were because people are still being careful with money. They know that they need to keep on getting them to wager creatively. This is where new slots parlors come in. Slots are affordable and gamblers know this. If a state can bring in a few slots parlors they can bring in that much more activity with customers who love to wager on them. Bringing in a new state-of-the-art facility is almost an assurance that a state can increase their income.

    Ocean Downs Welcomes Slots Gaming

    Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

It took a long time, but Maryland has finally come around. Slots gaming is popular in many areas of the US and many businesses already use them to bulk up revenues. Maryland was lagging. The debate over slots gaming has been raging all over the world as of late. It is no secret that the games are high-performing and people love them. They love taking a shot at the games of luck and seeing if they can win something. Plus the games come in a wide range of variations in theme, wager requirement and payout. Regardless of you bankroll, you most likely are going to find a slots game that you can afford to wager on. You can’t say the same for a blackjack table or a poker game. These are games that come with higher wager buy-ins and that can prove to be a problem for some gamblers. Slots on the other hand are affordable for everyone.

Maryland officials are finally on board with that too. The voting public was left to make the final decision as to whether or not the games should be allowed into the market and in November of 2010 they spoke clearly. Slots were voted in by an overwhelming amount. Now, two months later, Ocean Downs officially opened the door to them. Governor Martin O’Malley, state officials, local delegates and the lotter commission chairman were all in attendance for the event. They spoke their approval of the moved and talked about how they were hoping the games would perform well for the gaming public. Then the ribbon was cut and visitors were allowed to take part in the 750-slot machine parlor. Immediately hundreds of gamers entered the facility and started taking their chances. The games cost anywhere from one-penny up to $5 per spin to wager on and this is part of the appeal. The gamers there showed how much people love to wager on slots and most likely this isn’t going to stop. This is the second location in Maryland where gamers can play slots and it is a great time for the state to take advantage of the games and how lucrative the are going to be.

MA Looks for New Slots Parlor End of 2011

    Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

Maryland made waves this past year because of its Hollywood Casino. This was a casino that was debated over for months. There were sides drawn up vehemently on each side and some people never thought it would be built. Then it was. The state finally gave the ok to build the casino in November of 2010. It made a huge showing too. Gamers came out in droves to take advantage of the casino and showed how popular slots are. The slots parlor brought in over $2 million in the first four days of operations and this was a much bigger number than formerly anticipated by gaming experts. This is a sign of how slots have the power to bring in huge dollars. Now that the state of Maryland had success with Hollywood Casino, they are considering bringing in another one. This is quick on the heels of Hollywood and many people were not ready for the change this quickly. Legislators are now stating that in one year they are going to have another slots parlor up and running. They want to have another facility with 2,000 slots available.

Having another casino in the state that is as large as the first one is a sign of how Maryland officials are all for building up their revenue streams and using gambling to do it. The Cordish Cos is set to handle the additional slots parlor’s building. This is a premiere company that can most likely build a casino to compete with the Hollywood Casino location. Remember that location has over 4,700 slots so competition will be fierce in the state among the two locations for slots gaming. Right now things are still in the discussion phase, but that doesn’t mean that it will be for long. The state officials have made it a point to showcase how important it is for them to keep wagering going with the gaming public of the state and neighboring states. Now that Atlantic City’s numbers are down and showing no signs of a turnaround, other neighboring states are ready to take its place. They want to build some of the biggest casinos available, with the most games to play, and bring in the dollars needed for the state’s coffers.

Hollywood Casino Opens to Great Numbers

    Saturday, November 27th, 2010

One of the biggest casino openings in the world of gambling was last month in Perryville Maryland with the opening of the Hollywood Casino. The casino was a long time in coming and took months to put together. No one could predict how well the casino was going to do though—but developers were hopeful. One game that has stood the test of time over the years has been slot machines. They began as small games in the parlor, away from the actual gaming floors. It was originally thought that they were the games that would only pay out a few dollars here and there, but as they grew in popularity the developers put more and more money into their jackpot wins. This was great news for gamers who loved to play—now they could have a great gaming experience, but also walk away with a good payout if they were lucky. Hollywood Casino’s developers did their best to bring these games to the market in their own slots parlor. They varied the games and came up with a huge selection to attract residents of the state, and visitors beyond the state’s borders to the location. So far their plan worked.

The casino was open for just four days in October and in that time it brought in revenues of upwards of $2 million. This means that the casino could continue to bring in over $60 million in any given month. That means huge tax revenue dollars for the state too. The benefit is that if the casino is bringing in money, people’s taxes won’t have to be raised as much to sustain the state’s budget. In addition, there will be more jobs for locals to take on and public works programs will be funded through the games easily. Time will tell how long this slots parlor is going to push forward and make money for the state, but if the former performance of slots is any indication, then it should be a great money maker for the state. Hopefully developers will continue to bring in more games that push the games to new levels of performance and fun for gamers.

Temporary Slots Parlor May be Solution for Maryland

    Monday, November 8th, 2010

If you want a sign of how popular slots are, then consider looking at Cordish Cos and its affiliation with Anne Arundel Mills’s mall. The company has come together to try and build a slots parlor at the location. The debates over the issue have long been on the table though. In fact, it has taken over a year for debates to start and then for them to be argued…not that there is a resulting decision just yet either. For this reason Cordish Cos is pushing for creating a temporary slots parlor in the area until the permanent one is able to be funded and built. The market is impatient and wants to bring in gambling soon. They believe that it will bring in over $30 million in tax revenue returns and in addition, will bring in about 4,000 jobs. This quite possibly is the biggest draw for residents of the state. They know full well how depressing the market has been for the past few years. Voters have suffered and want change- soon. They are no longer willing to wait for those changes and a lot of people want to “do” something, rather than sit around. Building a premiere slots location could be that “something” that they need to spur the market back into a growth period.

If the company can work with the state to build a temporary slots parlor, they may have the fuel needed to argue their case even harder. It may give them the opportunity to show anti-gambling activists how a good slots parlor can be managed and how much of a benefit it will bring to the state. This could be a living example of what the true casino will bring if more people get behind the issue. It could show legislators that the city is able to not only build a casino, but also sustain it. They can make the moves to show everyone that the money is there to be had if they agree to the full scale casino and its building. No one knows what is going to happen with the casino project, but most likely it will eventually come into the market. It may take some convincing though and a temporary slots parlor is just the thing to do it.

    Maryland Still Working Towards Gambling

    Monday, November 8th, 2010

One of the biggest changes in the market of slots is its huge growth. More and more locations are hoping to bring slots gaming to their establishments in the hopes of generating revenue. It is no secret that slots are highly lucrative for gaming companies. In fact, Las Vegas recently noted that 60% of their revenue comes to them from the money of slots alone. This is a huge money maker for them and for other gambling companies. This is the reason why gaming companies are putting so much money into their development. And development companies are also pushing for the biggest strides in the market. If you love slots gaming, then now is a good time to take advantage of all that the market has to offer. In the end, it is one of those things that is never going to stop…developers are pushing technology farther and farther. That is opening doors to bringing in more gambling capabilities for the end users involved in the market.

One state that has long been having problems with gambling is Maryland. The state has been debating the issue and now it is going head to head against Cordish Cos. The company and its operators are pushing to develop slots at the Jockey Club and get a license for Laurel Park. The location has been suffering greatly in the market for the past few years and that means its owners are trying to bring in the biggest revenue possible. One way to do that is to create a slots parlor and Cordish Company is the one wanting the opportunity to implement a good slots gambling strategy. The Jockey Club and Laurel Park are hoping the changes happen soon because they have drastically depressed revenue streams to deal with as 2011 quickly approaches. There are few other options to reinvigorate their markets than to bring in slots gambling. Cordish Cos already has spent millions on advertising to the local area and promoting their desire to bring in a premiere slots parlor to the location. In coming months the issue should be completely sorted out and residents will know whether or not they are going to have the chance to play slots in the state.

Maryland Legislators Moving for Gambling Changes

    Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Maryland has been looking into the debate over slots gambling for some time now. It’s no secret that the state, like others, is having a hard time with funding. Legislators have been pushing for some way to turn the market around since the recession. Overall the recession had a hard and long-lasting affect on all markets. It pushed things to a new low. People were left without jobs and no credit. As the recession got worse, creditors closed their doors to borrowers—even those with moderate levels of credit scores. No one was safe at the time and that brought spending to an all time low. Without buyers to fuel their money into the economy, it was hard for businesses to start hiring again. In fact, they had to keep on laying people off and downsizing their businesses. This brought even more problems to the market. Overall slots are the one thing that is supposed to move the market ahead. No other activity can provide the market with the millions of dollars it needs to turn things around.

Maryland is coming to the market with intent to bring gambling to its borders. They already have brought slot machine gambling in. The state wants the games to open the door for recovery. So far the state has gotten a lot of opposition for the plan though. Anti gambling activists are citing that the state needs to keep slots out. They believe that the area where the slots parlor would be built is already over-populated. A new slots parlor would only cause more chaos in the area, making it next to impossible for residents to move throughout their areas. They claim that gambling activists have no after-plan for legalizing slots. Sure they can push the games to legalization, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be other problems coming into the market as a result. It is these problems that are going to hamper the communities involved over the long term. Anti gambling activists are not totally against gambling, but they are pushing for the answers to be found for pending issues prior to rushing through with legalization.

Anne Arundel Slots Parlor Still Up for Vote

    Saturday, October 30th, 2010

The debate over the Anne Arundel Mall casino is still going strong. Maryland is a state that is suffering financially—like most states in the US it has a long list of expenses and few options to cover them. They are looking to slot machine gaming as a means of facing the problem head on. In the future, the state is hoping to use gambling to shore up its state coffers. Right now the entire issue is in the hands of the voters though. Politicians would love to make the call, but that’s not how procedures work. In the mean time before the official vote, surveys have been taken to see where the issue falls with the public. Their opinion now before the vote, is a good sign of what is to come in the future. The most recent survey is showing that 47% of residents in the state support the slot machine plan and 45% are against it. That leaves 8% undecided. That 8% is crucial to both sides of the issue. And both sides are fighting hard for it. Now, like no other time opposing organizations are pulling out the big guns in terms of advertising. They want to sway that final faction and possibly change the minds of others. The time for heavy promotion and advertising is now and everyone involved is taking full advantage of that.

The whole issue rests on Question A, which is the referendum vote that is going to decide whether or not the slots plan is initiated. If the voters decide yes, then there will be a slot parlor approved for the Arundel Mills Mall area. That doesn’t mean that everything is fine though. Just because voters may ok the move, Laurel Park raceway still has some hurdles to cross before slot machines are approved. Right now Cordish Cos is waiting patiently for a final decision and hoping that the company can move in on building as soon as possible. It will inevitably take a lot of time for gamers to get into a Maryland casino in the Anne Arundel area, but once the vote is settled, it will make the final result’s fruition that much sooner.

Hollywood Casino Brings in Much-Needed Revenue

    Monday, October 25th, 2010

So far Hollywood Casino is proving to be a good idea. Perryville Maryland is the location where the slots parlor opened earlier this month. It was not without a lot of debate prior to its approval though. For years the state voters have been waiting for the facility. It was back in 2008 when residents of the state voted to build five different slots parlors throughout the state. They were looking to push for more gambling in an effort to bring in huge dollars. The state’s legislators promised that if the five slots parlors were brought to the state, it would bring in over $600 million in revenue for public schools and more than $100 million would go to the state’s horse racing industry. This was good news for voters who saw them both as an advantage that they didn’t want to pass up. So what happened?

It seemed that though the vote was taken back in 2008, legislators were not ready to commit to the actual building of the parlors. They took their time with regulating gambling and it is first now that the decision is coming to fruition. That is why Hollywood Casino is such a big deal to the market. On its first three days of operations the casino saw over 20,000 patrons come in to play the huge number of slot machines on the floor. What’s more impressive though is that the casino has already paid out in notable ways. One player, Denny Meadows made headline news because he said in one day he frequented the casino three times and ended up winning $300 as a result. Meadows is not alone because the payouts are already coming to patrons of the casino. This is great news for everyone involved because it means that the casino is going to continue to draw. Plus add to its winning appeal the fact that it has a huge number of slots games to explore, and the casino operators cannot go wrong. Most likely this is a casino that will continue to draw in more and more customers to the market. They are going to want to at minimum see what the hype is about. Most likely once they do, they will be committed and loyal customers to the Maryland casino.

    Seniors Support Hollywood Casino Opening

    Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Slots have been on the table for debate with Maryland legislators for years now. They know how lucrative the games are and want to bring them to the economy quickly. So far residents of the state have been waiting for over 2 years now to take part in slots gambling. It was back then that casino gambling was approved and the first opening for slot machines was seen. Now there is a new casino in the state. It is of course the much-talked about Hollywood Casino located in Perryville. The casino was scheduled to open on one day, but managed to open three days sooner. The great news was that it was not without notice. Thousands of players came to the casino despite the changing opening date, and were ready to take part in the games. They also came in to take part in the opening day bonus specials too. There were many giveaways and prizes handed out to reward the early bird customers who came in. If this is a sign of the things to come, then it is evident that the Hollywood Casino is one of the most viable ways of bringing in cash these days.

One of the startling differences though in what was expected was the demographic. It seemed that a good number of the gamers entering Hollywood Casino were senior citizens. This was a surprise, but still welcomed by the casino. Owners took some polls of the people and found out some interesting things about their casino. First of all, senior citizens were lining up to see the various slot machines. These were the most popular games in the casino. In addition, owners were also noting how seniors were reacting to the machines. Many believed that they weren’t varied enough and others believed that there weren’t enough wager variations. Some of the games should have been lower wager then they were. There was a lack of penny machines for them to enjoy. Overall the opening was a success, but still gave the operators some leeway to continue growing the casino. Their long term success is going to come from building a casino that pleases as many gamers as possible—and that could take some time to achieve.
