Before You Start Playing Slots Remember This- Part 1
Anyone who has played slots for any length of time has come across those “sure fire” slots tips. They may come in the form of a book or a DVD or even an online eCourse, but how valuable are they really? Well—the reality of slots is that they are random and there is absolutely, positively NO skill involved. Then why are their resources available that say differently? One word: money. People looking for a quick dime put these “tools” out and get slots aficionados to buy. The truth is they are all a waste of money.
Some ask, “Why do poker games come with tips if you say slots tips are useless?” The reason is because poker is not solely a game of chance. Poker can be taught and learned. There is even a class that teaches poker at Harvard and other Ivy League schools. Many industries are realizing that poker is a valuable tool that can teach strategy and using it in the market. On the other hand, slots are not teachable. They are run by a RNG, random number generator, and that is it.
Though they are not teachable or predictable, there are still some tips to playing slots. Here are the main ones to keep in mind:
-
Tip 1: Always read the payout schedule because they can vary greatly from machine to machine. Choose the machine with the best payout. Though there doesn’t seem to be a big difference between 95% and 96%, that small percentage point can mean the difference between a big payout and a small one.
- Tip 2: Start with a bankroll limit. Make sure it is only as much as you can afford to lose. Once you reach that limit, make sure you stop playing. This is where many players get into trouble. They keep playing because of the excitement and get caught up in the hype. Don’t lose more than you can afford. Walk away.
- Tip 3: If you play slots with the money from your initial bankroll, not from any credits you may have earned along the way, you will always walk away from the machines with some money in your pocket. Do so in conjunction with a set limit on losses.
